Community Christian Fellowship (CCF) of Lowell announces that the recent collaborative effort to “Bless the City of Lowell” by hosting a Block Party was a tremendous success! Joined by leaders and members of other local churches, over 1,000 people of all ages were served on South Common in Lowell , MA starting at 11:00 a.m. on July 30, 2005 . The purpose of the event was to give back to the city by serving the people in need who live within its boundaries.
The free event included pony rides, face painting, and bouncing rooms for the kids. A prayer booth was made available for people who wanted someone to pray with them. A cookout, music, hair cuts and frequent prize giveaways including such items as a microwave, sewing machines, bikes, gift certificates, sports equipment, and a used car, lasted until 2:00 p.m. when a huge grocery distribution station was opened. People filled their shopping bags and boxes with literally tons of groceries. By 5:00 p.m. not a can of food remained.
“By God’s grace we will do even more next year to show the love of Jesus Christ in this tangible way!” said CCF’s Senior Pastor Raffoul Najem. Numerous local businesses made monetary or prize donations to show their compassion for the people of Lowell . A list of these businesses may be obtained by contacting CCF. Among the churches that participated in the event were Iglesia Christian Ebenezer Assembly of God, and New Challenge Ministry of Lowell; Mill City Vineyard Church of Tewksbury; The Secret Place A House of Prayer in Lawrence; and New England Pentecostal Ministries of Pelham, NH.
