Lowell,
Community Christian Fellowship (CCF), Lowell, MA is hosting four Neighborhood Cookouts during the summer of 2008 on the church grounds. The purpose of the cookouts is to extend the love of God to the neighbors within the blocks of Westford, Wilder, Middlesex and Foster Street. The events are being organized by Asheley Clark under the elders of CCF, Pastor Raffoul Najem, Pastor Vi Whitcomb, and Elder Danny O’Neil. Mrs. Clark is the church Missions Director; a woman with extensive training and experience in the areas of local outreach, and international missions.
Invitations to the cookouts were hand-delivered by youth members of Somebody Cares of Lowell, and posters announcing the cookouts were posted in local businesses within the invitation radius. The first cookout drew about 50 visitors. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, watermelon and desserts lined the tables. Face-painting and games amused the young, and volley ball entertained others.
The cookouts are CCF’s opportunity to meet the neighbors in order to extend God’s love through a smile or conversation. After the first cookout Pastor Vi Whitcomb said, "The response from the neighbors today was wonderful. We just hope that they were as blessed to be here, as we were to have them."
