On May 7, 2009, the United States observed the National Day of Prayer originally established in 1952 by President Harry Truman and the U.S. Congress. Community Christian Fellowship and Academy, Lowell, MA hosted the National Day of Prayer at its facility at 105 Princeton Boulevard.
The event was attended by staff, principals, teachers and students, from the church and school, as well as Reverend Raffoul Najem, Pastor and School Administrator, parents, neighbors and friends including the Honorable Mayor Edward "Bud" Caulfield.
Mayor Caulfield addressed the crowd, stating that the building at 105 Princeton Boulevard was the house of God when it was established as a Jewish temple, and under its new ownership, it remains the house of God. Senator Steven Panagiotakos was unable to attend the event this year. The Senator forwarded a letter, which was read as a part of the event.
Corporate prayer was led by students of various grade levels for U. S. leaders as indicated in the Mission of the National Day of Prayer Task Force. The students prayed specifically for the seven centers of power: government, military, media, business, education, church and family.
